About Our Council

Council 2953 was founded in December of 1945 through the efforts of James A. Davis, a local Druggist. It is named after Fr. Ambrose Dwyer, a Knight of Columbus, who came to be one of the best known and most loved Priests in the Syracuse Diocese.

Our council hosts a large number of council activities throughout the year. Weekly activities include Bingo on Thursday. Annual activities include: Clam and Steak Bake, Super Bowl Party, Easter Celebration, JC Field Days, Turkey Party, and Children's Christmas Party. We sponsor a number of Peewee teams and a Boy Scout Venture group and we hold the annual Freethrow basketball competition.
